On December 12, 2014, Jim showed up at Brittany’s office unannounced with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and asked her to join him for a day of fun activities. The first stop was home. Jim told Brittany to change into something comfortable and to pack an overnight bag. He then surprised her with two roses and his dad’s Mercedes! The two roses, he explained, signified the two roses he gave her years ago when he asked her to be his girlfriend.
The second stop on the journey was Leon’s Full Service in Decatur for lunch. Jim told Brittany that Leon’s represented one of many reasons why he loves her. Leon’s was the restaurant he and Brittany went to with their families after being sworn in as lawyers, and reminded him of how he loves how smart and ambitious she is.
For the third stop, Jim surprised Brittany with a visit from his sister’s dog, Franklin, who Brittany adores. Jim, Brittany and Franklin took a nice stroll around downtown Decatur. Jim explained that Franklin represents another reason why he loves her. The way Brittany loves and takes care of Franklin when they puppysit represents to Jim that Brittany will make a great mother one day.
The fourth stop was Aurora Coffee, which is a coffee shop Jim and Brittany loved to go to when they lived in their tiny apartment on Rosedale. Brittany discovered a delicious coffee drink at Aurora, choca au lait, that reminded them of the sweet coffee they drank together while living and working in Bhutan. The two have been addicted to choco au laits every since. Jim told Brittany that the choc au laits they were drinking represented another reason why he loves her - she is adventurous and always bringing new experiences into his life.
After finishing their coffee, Jim and Brittany headed to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia. This was the place that Brittany took Jim the morning that their Bar results came out. They had to wait for the results to come in the mail, so this was a way to kill some time that morning and to take their minds off of their worry. Jim told Brittany that the Museum represented how caring, thoughtful and nurturing she is, which is another reason why he loves her.
For the sixth stop, they hopped into the Mercedes and drove to the St. Regis hotel in Buckhead for Afternoon Tea. They enjoyed various fine teas, champagne and an assortment of mini quiches, finger sandwiches and sweet treats. Jim told Brittany that the St. Regis reminded him of the time that they celebrated one of their anniversaries with brunch at the St. Regis. He explained that the hotel represented how Brittany has made him appreciate some fancier things in life, which is another reason why he loves her.
For the final stop of the day, Jim asked Brittany to close her eyes and he led her by the hand through the hotel lobby and up an elevator. When she opened her eyes, they were standing in a gorgeous suite surrounded by candles and rose petals. Jim then got down on one knee and asked Brittany to spend the rest of her life with him! She clearly said yes!
